There are a ton of different models and makes of tablets, so there's always a tablet out there for someone that fits their workflow and needs. Of course, all of that is, as I said, listed off the top of my head.

If you can't see yourself using a portable drawing device that's a bit on the smaller size compared to the HD models mentioned above, then look into the HD models for larger space and more comfortable desk use if you have the budget, of course. These computers are, of course, more meant for artists that are on the go and travel a lot, or just prefer having a portable system vs. The bare basics, but still gets the job done (I used a Capture for years, loved it It's the most "well-rounded" in the sense that it can run everything you need, from animating to modelling to video gaming, unless you really need to render farm, in which case, you'd need to go for something higher that can handle the strain of doing so. This is the line that replaced the Bamboo line, ex. Intuos Pen/Pen and Touch/Manga: Basic drawing tablet that costs around $100 + tax.

When I was still an art college student, my intuos pen would work on the school cintiqs, so I didn't have to buy an extra.īasic rundown (albeit lengthy) of Intuos products, sorted by tier based on basic needs and cost (note that this is just me listing stuff off the top of my head, I'd suggest going to the official Wacom website for more accurate info):

I just work with the touch feature disabled- it seems like a waste to have it in the first place though? It's kind of frustrating to use because when I'm drawing with the pen I put my hand on the surface and it'll make random movements trying to register my hand as an input. I don't particularly care for the touch feature.

At least the driver doesn't crash after 30 minutes any more. Yes, there are still hiccups with the drivers- like it occasionally drawing a huge heavy straight line between brush strokes- and it's a bit annoying, but it's nothing ctrl+z won't fix. Although there's been some snags with it (the USB cord doesn't seem to take use and abuse well, and Wacom was willing to charge me for an entirely new tablet to replace it- even the one I have now is a bit touchy and will disconnect/reconnect if I move the tablet around much), the tablet and pen perform great otherwise. Bitches I GLIDE across the tablet and make the sexy lines. Please make sure you have it, it's the best thing. It doesn't even need to be that big, so don't waste money buying the biggest one because you think you have to. My active screen is about the size of a piece of paper and it's more than enough.

Seriously, you really don't need the biggest tablet. I didn't buy it, but one thing I realized one I got my cintiq is you REALLY DON'T NEED THE BIG ONE. Wacom by this point had convinced me their product was worth it so I was only looking for that golden product in-between good quality and low price. Anyway, before I bought it I did hours of research on wacom tablets. I have a small cintiq hybrid which is unfortunately not available anymore, let's just say it was the nicest cintiq for the most reasonable price. There's no doubt that anything Wacom is worth is (except for one of the portable cintiq2 model, it didn't seem to do well). The intuos is the one I would have baught if I had a smaller budget.
